UNICAL Offers Employment To Best Graduating Medical Science Student

The Department of Medical Laboratory Science, University of Calabar, Nigeria her 13th Induction/Oath Taking into the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria recently at the institution’s Conference Center.
A total of 63 fresh graduates from the department were inducted with 59 from the University of Calabar, UNICAL and 4 from the University of Nigeria, UNN Nsukka Campus.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zana Akpagu who declared the ceremony open in his opening speech expressed grief and pains toward the demise of Mrs. S. O. Omotuyi, Acting Registrar of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, praying that her soul will rest in peace.
He reiterated the University’s decision to uphold its mandate on providing an education friendly environment for the students to thrive.
To the inductees he warned, “Medical Laboratory Science profession is strategic to the health sector, priceless to the Nation and the world at large”, while mploring them to be well behaved.
On his part, Prof. Maurice Asuquo the College Provost pointed that the College of Medical Sciences is very happy to launch fresh hands full of hope, praying that they will succeed against all odds if they maintain ethical practices.
Furthermore, an induction lecture presented by Prof. C. Mboto on the topic: “Medical Laboratory Scientist of Tomorrow: Challenges and Opportunities”, thoroughly explained the pros and cons of upholding the ethics of the medical profession.
He further disclosed that as far the profession is concerned the fresh inductees have a long way to go and need to see challenges as opportunities.
As part of the event, the Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Zana Akpagu presented appointment letter to the First Class graduate of the department, Egba Agala Eja who scored 4.83 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).
