5 Things We Know About Orange Is the New Black Season 5

If you're still finishing season four of Orange Is the New Black and you care about spoilers, you might want to rethink reading the rest of this post. Having said that, there's nothing too revealing about season five details, because there really aren't very many yet. The latest season of the hit series just premiered on Netflix on June 17, so it'll be a while until we get plot details about what's to come, but here's what we do know — and what we can deduce — about season five.

1 Creator Jenji Kohan Is on Board

When Netflix renewed Orange Is the New Black for seasons five, six, and seven, it was also announced that Kohan would stay on board. Thank goodness!

2 But What About the Cast?

While more characters have been added to the mix since season one, a handful of actors have remained staples. It's safe to assume that Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Uzo Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Michael Harney, Danielle Brooks, and Dascha Polanco (among others) will appear on season five, though we don't have confirmation yet.

3 We'll Hopefully Get Some Resolution to That Cliffhanger

There's no way season five will start without addressing that giant cliffhanger, right? The way season four ends spells trouble for quite a few of the inmates, and signals the beginning of a new era at Litchfield. If the first episode doesn't pick up right where season four ends, we will at least see the aftermath.

4 Filming Is Underway

While it feels like season four just came out, shooting for season five is already happening!

5 The Premiere Date

We don't have the exact premiere date, but we do know that seasons two, three, and four have all debuted on Netflix in June — always on a Friday. If I were a betting woman, my money would be on June 9, 16, or 23 of 2017. You know what? Best just to not make any plans in June of next year
